Swedish shipping company Sirius Shipping has placed an order for four hybrid oil/chemical tankers, each with a deadweight of 7,999 tonnes, as part of its ongoing fleet renewal strategy.

The vessels, belonging to the Ice Class 1A Evolution 8K series, will be constructed at the China Merchants Jinling Shipyard in Dingheng. Deliveries are scheduled for 2027 and 2028.

Jonas Backman, CEO of Sirius Shipping, highlighted the significance of the newbuilds, stating: “A lot of hard work has finally paid off, and we are very excited. These vessels are an important step towards our vision – to become the long-term first choice for our colleagues, customers, and society. The vessels will, of course, be built to Sirius standards and incorporate the latest technology for future compliance.”
