Klaipėda Port signs electrification contract for ferries

The Port of Klaipėda in Lithuania has signed a contract for the installation of infrastructure that will enable roll-on, roll-off ferries to receive electricity directly from the shore from next year.

The initiative will eliminate the need for fuel consumption during port stays, replacing it with electricity from renewable sources.

Three electricity supply stations will be installed at Klaipėda Central Terminal, with an additional unit planned for Klaipėda Container Terminal. These facilities are expected to be operational by 2026.
