Kongsberg bolsters US subsea defence

Kongsberg has successfully completed acceptance testing and delivered the first HUGIN Superior Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV) to the US navy, just one year after being awarded a 24-month contract by the Defense Innovation Unit 

Final testing of the AUV – which promises to enhance the navy’s undersea capabilities – took place earlier this year in Norway.

The AUV features full ocean depth capability, over 70 hours of endurance and a navigational accuracy of <0.04% of distance travelled, and multiple mapping and imaging sensors.
