EU pledges support package for wind power

The European Commission announced a ‘Wind Power Package’ to provide additional support to the bloc’s wind power sector. 

The heavily-trailed announcement by the EU Commission president Ursula von der Leyen on 24 October contains a series of actions to strengthen the sector, amid concerns that rising raw materials costs in a higher interest rate environment were slowing the pace of new developments. The EU has identified the wind sector as a key component of ambitious plans to generate 42.5% of the bloc’s energy needs from renewable energy sources by 2030.
