ICS proposes global fund and reward scheme

ICS’s secretary general, Guy Platten, believes the proposal will enable the industry to support maritime greenhouse gas reduction efforts in developing countries, while narrowing the price differential between alternative and conventional fuels.

The International Chamber of Shipping (ICS) has submitted a proposal to the IMO for a scheme that would accelerate shipping’s transition to net zero by financially rewarding ships and energy producers that invest in low/net zero emission fuels.
