Kongsberg has announced the establishment of a standalone business unit, Kongsberg Discovery, which will incorporate the company’s former Sensors and Robotics division. 

The new business area, the company’s fourth, is intended to leverage the company’s advanced robotics and sensor technology expertise to map, monitor and understand ocean space. The company expects that the demands of meeting global climate, food and security challenges will drive a significant increase in activity in the marine sector.

The establishment of Kongsberg Discovery as a separate business area will also strengthen Kongsberg Maritime’s focus on core business such as a system integrator, Kongsberg’s ceo Geir Håøy announced.
