Q&A: Wind & Sea with StormGeo

Maritime software is a growing sector and one which some of the largest marine companies in the world are looking to get involved in. This year alone, ABB and its former division Accelleron both acquired weather routing software companies although Alfa Laval was earlier to the action having acquired StormGeo in 2021. StormGeo itself bought Brazil’s Climatempo this year as it looks to bolster its capabilities.

At this year’s SMM we spoke to the company’s chief operating officer, Michael O’Brien (pictured), about some of the innovations at the company, for instance its planned collaboration with Alfa Laval’s wind propulsion system Oceanbird, a JV with Wallenius Marine.
