Proactive support as a key differentiator

Service is the backbone of HJ Lubricators’ strategy for 2025. With a clear focus on proactive customer support, the company is reshaping its after-sales operations to ensure maximum uptime for its customers.

In a sector where the distance between product buyers and end users can be significant, HJ Lubricators is committed to bridging the gap. “We can’t perform installations while ships are at sea, but we focus on maximizing uptime through careful scheduling and proactive service agreements,” Ivan Lund, Service Manager at HJ Lubricators says. Digital docking tools play an essential role in this process, enabling the company to anticipate when ships will be in port for maintenance.

“Thanks to our new strategy, our customers will experience a more dynamic and long-term approach to service. We are now available 24/7 across multiple locations, including Denmark, Singapore, and China, ensuring rapid response times,” Ivan Lund says.

A key element of this approach is the introduction of new service agreements tailored to each customer’s operational requirements. These agreements not only minimize downtime but also include advanced digital tools, such as docking schedules and SmartLink technology, to optimize maintenance planning via real time engine data transfer from vessel to engineer onshore.

A renewed focus on guidance and Technology-driven service enhancements
Digital transformation is at the heart of HJ Lubricators’ service strategy. The company has implemented a system where service reports and documentation are made available online immediately after a technician’s visit. This transparency fosters trust and ensures that customers have the information they need to maintain their systems effectively.

“We take our work seriously, and our customers can feel that. By focusing on proactive solutions and thorough planning, we are building stronger relationships and setting a new standard for service excellence. Service is crucial because the risk of downtime is so high,” Lund explains.

“Our solutions are not off-the-shelf products, and for instance, we work closely with customers to identify the spare parts that should be kept onboard.”

This tailored approach ensures optimal performance, even under challenging conditions.

Lund also emphasizes the importance of customer-specific system selection: “Older engines may not be compatible with our highly sensitive modern systems, which perform best with clean oil. We set clear expectations and work with customers to provide the most effective solutions.”
