Hansen Engineering has designed composite hatch covers for a 225m bulk carrier, with approval granted by Panama Maritime Authority last year

Since composites were first used in boat building in the late 1940’s, there has been considerable speculation about how these versatile materials could be used for ship building. Dag Pike examines recent developments.
