Wolfram Guntermann,  Director of Regulatory Affairs Fleet, Hapag-Lloyd AG will be speaking on fleet upgrades and green recycling.

He will join the speakers in the Retrofit session at this year’s Propulsion and Future Fuels Conference, being held from 19 – 21 November in Hamburg. 

Wolfram will discuss Hapag-Lloyd’s fleet upgrade programme which is not only improving the efficiency of existing assets but is conserving its valuable resources. He will also share the company’s Recycling Policy which evaluates ships that cannot be upgraded for green ship recycling.  

Captain Wolfram Guntermann graduated with his Masters Licence at the Marine Polytechnic Elfleth/Germany in combination with a scholarship at the Plymouth Polytechnic of Marine Science. He also received his Engineer’s Licence at the Hamburg Polytechnic and serves as a Ship Operation Officer, holding a dual licence.   

Starting in 1979 he moved through the ranks, receiving his first command as Master in 1996. He also took various assignments ashore as Trio Tonnage Center London and, for almost nine years, Director Marine Operations in the Hapag-Lloyd America Office in Piscataway/New Jersey.   

After returning to the Hamburg Headquarters, he took on the current role as Director Regulatory Affairs, dealing with the challenging opportunities emerging in the light of new environmental legislation and initiatives.
