Vestdavit lands largest ever contract for Canadian coast guard vessels

Seaspan

Norwegian davit specialist Vestdavit has secured its largest-ever order with a contract to supply high-specification davit systems for six multi-purpose vessels being built for the Canadian Coast Guard.

The deal, with Seaspan Shipyards in Vancouver, will initially see the delivery of six FF-15000 davit systems, with an option for a further ten units. This follows Vestdavit’s previous contract with Seaspan to supply RHIB davits for the Polar Icebreaker.

The FF-15000 is a hydraulically operated davit with a 15,000kg safe working load (SWL). It can handle a range of craft, including a 9m self-propelled barge, 7.5m RHIB, and a 20-foot ISO container. Advanced features such as shock absorbers, dual winches, and an anti-pendulation device ensure safe and efficient launch and recovery operations in challenging conditions.
