A bulk carrier is to be converted to run on next-generation fuels under an EU-sponsored initiative aimed at accelerating international shipping’s decarbonisation. Anemoi Marine Technologies (Anemoi) has been awarded a grant from the Clean Maritime Demonstration Competition (CMDC) Round 4. The CMDC Round 4 is part of a suite of interventions launched by the UK Shipping Office for Reducing Emissions (UK SHORE). The aim of this competition is to fund real world demonstrations, trials and feasibility studies into clean maritime technologies that reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Bureau Veritas (BV) has granted an approval in principle (AIP) for the design for a 150,000 cbm liquefied hydrogen (LH2) carrier and an AiP for the design of a cryogenic membrane containment system for liquefied hydrogen (LH2) developed by GTT. The certificates were presented at the Hyvolution Summit 2024 trade show in Paris on 31 January 2024.
